Guest guest
Marcy, Finally Abby is able to drink a little this morning. We do the fill the straw with Sprite and I stick it in her mouth. She has always responded to this. She is currently eating a cracker so I hope all this stays down. Abby had her tonsils and adnoids out in May 2004. She had severe sleep apnea and would snore so loud she would wake the whole house up. I never knew such a little body could produce such a loud noise. Abby is having her second set of ear tubes put in on February 21st. In fact, we are doing everything in one shot, her little brother (in size he blows her away) who is 3 is also having his second set of tubes and his adnoids out that day. Abby gets a cold and it goes straight to her ears. The first set of tubes...one is out and one is almost out. She rarely gets a fever with her ear infections. She typically gets a yucky nose and I immediately call the doctor. In fact, sometimes I think her regular pediatrician thinks I am some crazy woman. Tyler complains of his ear hurting and I am in the doctor's office. Two weeks ago this happened and Tyler's ears were clear. One week later to the day I ended up at the Immediate Care Center with Tyler and he did have an ear infection that was bulging. I am no crazy woman, I just know my kids. Sounds like you need to stay warm too. It is 13 here right now. My mom is here from Florida for four days (Abby was supposed to spend the day with her today) and she has decided she was nuts for coming to this cold weather. The truth is she cannot spend more than a month away from her grandchildren. My parents live here in Indy 7 months and Florida 5 months. She just picked up my 3 year old, Tyler, so I hope Abby will take a nap so I can catch up on lost sleep. Pregnant and going on little sleep is not a good combo. Take care, Amy Marcy Conley wrote: Amy, You can vent anytime. Poor Abby, Can she drink? The poor kid needs a break. Last time na was sick i gave her a teaspoon of gatoraid every ten minutes for an hour. We made a game of it, we set the alarm clock and took sips. She didn't want anything but lay on my shoulder and hold her. After a 4 hr nap she seemed better and was running around. Did the ent ever say anything about her adnoids or tonsils. na used to get infections every month only she has such a high tolence for pain, we would go and they would look at me like i was the worst mother because her inner ears would be inflamed and all she would say is they are itchy. She wouldn't act different at all. Now i see her hands go near her ears and call. Her ENT said where she gets colds they seem to turn to sinsus and then come out her ears because the fluid has to come out some where. ( very lay man terms). It is aweful when they are sick like this. Stay warm. It is 0 degrees here. She just had one six weeks ago. One ear is bulging and red the other had so much infection draining out (that is the ear that still has a tube) that the doctor had to vaccuum out her ear. Yuck!! The ENT doctor gave us three prescriptions. Took those in and were waiting in the van for them to be done, Abby gets sick in the van. Not good. She slept all evening which was fine, but then was up sick in the middle of the night again. She has not had anything to eat since Wednesday evening. She has not even been able to start her by mouth antibiotics yet. I see her losing weight before my eyes. We were doing so good. Oh well, what can you do. At least we are inside where it is warm because it is very cold outside. Thanks for listening to me vent.
