you have had them done at the same time? Also, did you have to get 2

seperate approvals from your insurance? And lastly, who is your

insurance? Congrats on your sucess!!!!!!

I had my surgery in 2parts due to my high bmi & other co-

morbidities=i.e.high blood pressure, sleep apnea, congesive heart

failure, recent strokes--well, you get the picture. Let me say,

though, life is so different, since surgery. Yes, I did have to have

insurance approval for both surgeries. In fact, what I found out

when I was declined for insurance coverage on part 2, was that my

insurance, Aetna USHealthcare Managed Choice realized that they had

made a mistake when they approved my part 1 & would have declined it

also. However, fortunately, I have a very relentless surgeon, Dr

Inabnet...he fought very hard for my part 2 & won without any

appeals!!! There was no delay in my scheduled part 2 & he wasn't

going to let their error in may be a detriment me...so, yes here I

sit with my total bpd/ds & quite happy with it. I am currently

working on drafting a letter to Aetna that I will post telling them

how much better life is post bpd/ds. (I am doing this at the request

of my surgeon--in hopes that it will help others that follow me in

their quest for bpd/ds that are insured with Aetna). I do have

secondary insurance, BC/BS, they were never approached..so I do not

know what their response would have been.

I hope this helps.
