Guest guest
, What a nightmare! I'm so sorry the vertigo recurred. I've got a friend that has coped with it off and on for awhile and it's awful. Like you though she found that a good physical therapist who understands it can work wonders and taught her how to alleviate it on her own. Physical therapy can work wonders. I'm glad you're feeling better and hope the pft and doctor app't can be rescheduled soon! Also hope that all the results show you are still firmly at home in the stables! Guest guest
So sorry to hear about the vertigo. Glad the PT is so good. I have a physical therapist who is great. Not for vertigo, but for back and neck pains generally. When they pop up I always know she'll be able to help and its such a relief to know she's there. For those who haven't used a PT or not recently, the field has really advanced and they can do wonders with pains of so many types. Now, in Texas, there is one limitation and that is that you must have a prescription from a doctor to go to a physical therapist. But my primary will send one over anytime needed. Now part of the benefit of the Texas regulations is the physical therapist has to track how you're progressing and maintain good records so it does add professionalism and discipline to the program I guess. > > *Hello there all you even, level headed people!* > I had another bout of VERTIGO while having my HRCT yesterday! In the > hospital no less!!! > What a mess! Guest guest
Hi Sista, I'm sorry to read that you're struggling with vertigo again. I'm interested in tyour description of the crystals in the inner ear.....you may remember that I've been struck with Sudden Onset Sensorineural Hearing Deficit in my left ear... a mysterious Inner ear problem. Poor balance is one of the outcomes for me... I tend to keep falling if I bend in any direction & now have a tendency to 'Lurch'...anyways the point of interest for you could be that I've been put on a low salt diet & given tablets (Hygroton) to drag the Salt out of my inner ear! Apparently salt levels can build up in the Inner Ear & cause balance problems...I'm wondering if this could be a factor in your Vertigo. Are your crystals made of salt & could it be that you have a Salt imbalance contributing to the movement of the little devils! When I remarked to my ENT bloke that my Serum Sodium levels were at the lower end of the Normal range he said that the salt build-up in the inner ear was not connected to Serum Salt levels! Guest guest
, Sista from OZ Thanks for the encouragement. I'm doing a lot better tonight than yesterday!!! I have a session with the Physical Therapist tomorrow. She is also working on my balance issues. I've always had coordination trouble ( rotten large motor skills) and balance is part of that. Maybe I'll become this coordinated super-athlete after all these 65+ clutzy years! Z fibriotic NSIP/05 Z 65, fibriotic NSIP/05/PA And “mild” PH/10/07 No, NSIP was not self-inflicted…I never smoked! Guest guest
Geeta and Joyce, Thanks for your concerns. I got to the PT really quickly and she did the maneuver that moves the crystals in the inner ear back to where they are supposed to be. I have to do the same each morning until I have a full 24 hours without symptoms. I'm fine now!!!Hooray! I just need to keep doing the balance related exercises and I have a follow-up appointment on Wednesday the 4th. It was scary, but I've been there and done that on other vertigo bouts so I wasn't totally freaked out this time.
