Guest guest
Hi! I wanted to try tomatoes, but can't have dairy, yogurt, and i'm avoiding sweet vegetables because I think yeast is starting to grow - so no winter squash or carrots if possible. Any good recipes for tomato soup that I can have out there? Or maybe some good tomato sauce with ground turkey that I could have on its own? no beef yet for me either Thanks! Guest guest
San Marzano tomatoes (I find them at WF) are sweet and from Italy. They are whole sometimes with basil. They are not very acidic. I just cook them down and the tomatoes eventually break up into a sauce. You can add whatever seasons tolerated. I do not have a letter from the company and those are the only canned ones I tolerate. Some others use a different brand. These should only have tomatoes, salt and maybe basil. Sometimes I add a basket of grape or baby tomatoes to them. It makes a lot of sauce because I can only find the kind of big cans. It's the name on the can, not a brand name with San Marzano written underneath. I think it's a white can. Other than adding a carrot or honey or yogurt to cut the acid, I don't know. Debbie 41 cd Hi! Guest guest
Thanks, Debbie. I didn't know people used canned tomatoes at all, it's nice to hear that you didn't have a problem with it. Has anybody gotten a letter of confirmation for other brands? ~Ellen > > > > > > > Hi! Guest guest
Yes! I was actually looking at that this morning. That would be perfect, except for two issues- i think its too early for me to try onions, but maybe since its in pureed form it would be okay...or i would throw them out before putting everything else in the FP - i am not eating red peppers yet, so I'm not really sure how it would taste without them. Guest guest
Certain brands are deemed ok (I don't know which ones or which have letters so someone else will have to post that info). I don't have the information because a) I recently had to reformat my computer so I don't have bookmarks to anything and if I can't eat/use it for whatever reason,I don't keep information on it. I just gave my experience with the SM tomatoes because it's not acidic, more sweet. (YW)Debbie Thanks, Debbie. Guest guest
Speaking of tomato soup, I was thinking about making the one from BTVC. Is it any good? It seems too simple and I'd have to figure out what herbs to add. Anyone else ever get a craving for 's tomato soup!! That's what I want a tomato soup to taste like! marla From: Ellen o Sent: Monday, May 17, 2010 1:25 PM To: BTVC-SCD Subject: Re: Re: Tomato soup?
