Going back on flagyl for 2 weeks

So I just got back from the Doc's about my symptoms that have been ongoing since Jan. that I haven't fully figured out.

I have had a skin tag that I thought was a hemhorroid since Christmas. Flagyl for ten days back then and it almost made it all go away, but still managed to linger. As time went on, I stayed strict to SCD and cut back on high sugar legal foods.

Eventually I started to add foods like almond flour and cheese back in and felt comfortable with them, but the past month has been rough. A lot of straining and B, some C; the past week and a half the straining, B and C subsided, but there is a lot of D, even though I only go 2-3 times a day.

My Dr. gave me an exam and noticed a second skin tag emerging from straining and a lot of inflammation. He's giving me a 2 week course of flagyl to help quiet things down then wants me to go in for a colonoscopy in 1 month. Mentally, I feel good, physically I've felt better, but I'm determined.

Any advice for the colonoscopy?

,

I don't feel like I usually have much straining, and I have had a skin tag for several years and not taken meds for it. Is it painful or bothersome for you?

I've been hesitant to have a colonoscopy, but am having one in June. For me, it's been 7 years and I guess I'm of the mind that knowledge is power and I'd like to know what's going on inside me. :)

There's no pain -- just some straining cramping and D. I've taken it before with similar symptoms a couple years back which is why I'm willing to do it again.

The nut flours always make my anal issues worse.

Bummer as they are so yummy!

As for the scope do you know which clean out you're supposed to do?

I stayed on a bland diet about a week before hand.

Really helped with the miralax clean-out.

I am due for my first colonoscopy since surgery and am dreading it myself.

I can't help you with prep laxatives that isn't awful as I haven't

found one yet. But, I do have a bit of advice on food for prep

day. My first colonoscopy I nearly starved to death and I had

blood-sugar troubles. But the last one, I made a lot of chicken

broth and strained it well so it was clear, which made it prep-day

legal. And I made SCD gelatin with the legal Welch's purple grape

juice. These plus did help me feel less starved at least though I

could have lused more gelatin than I made.

Jodi,

It was actually me that mentioned issues w/ at least almond goods and my fistula. What do you do then for snacks outside of meals? I also cannot do eggs or cheese/yogurt.

Thanks!

Bags of meat?

Do you have any recipes for turkey jerky? I do not do beef or pork.

Hi Tasha,

Just use turkey meat instead.

This recipe is from my friend Eloise on the GAPS list;

I use a quarter of the garlic and you can sub the chili powder for something

else as well. This is super easy!

I also vacuum seal after jerky is made and since it is such a large amount I put

a whole bunch in the freezer.

Jodi

=============================

" ...9 pounds of ground beef or buffallo (one pound per tray in my dehydrator)

9 cloves of garlic thru the garlic press

10 tsp sea salt

2 bunches of cilantro blended in the food processor

1 tsp of chili powder

Mix all ingredients by hand in a huge bowl til well blended. Cover with a towel

and let sit for an hour to marinate. Divide into 9 even portions. Place one

portion on teflex sheet, cover with wax paper and roll out evenly at least 1/4

in thick. Score with pizza cutter. Place trays in dehydrator on jerky temp 155

degrees. Set timer for an hour and return with cutting board and kitchen

scissors. Cut on score line, return to dehydrator screens (remove teflex

sheets). Let dry for 10-12 hours. Checking occasionally. "

is a folder in our library. You'll find my story of my colonoscopy, and

how I prepared for it. Hopefully, it will help.

I think I dread the clean-out as much or more than the procedure! Don't

forget to have your E-lyte on hand!
