I have been asking myself the same question for last couple weeks. We have been in the band for 3 month. Although we saw a pretty good improvement in the first 2 months (went from 17 mm to 8 mm asymmetry), the last month has been very slow. We would be getting a second band with the hope we will hit a growth spurt sometime soon. My baby turned 8 month old few days back - there ought be couple growth spurts down the road!

At the time my LO started the STARband for his plagiocephaly, he was 4 months & measured 20.5mm At our 12 week scan, he measured 13.1mm Since that time, I feel like we've reached a plateau in terms of growth. Is this common? Given the severity of his plagio, my ortho hoped to get him at least to 10mm. I'm so happy with the progress that he has made, but I'm wondering if his growth has leveled off. Can growth plateau? Is it possible that 13.1mm is it for my LO? I know his head will never be perfect & that as he gets older it will be less noticable. I'm just hoping for a little bit more. Anyone?? Thoughts? Experiences?

I assume that your son is about 7 months now. Going down from 20 some to 13 is great but I honestly think that at that age anything can still happen. Maysa was banded at 9.5 months and within one week of getting the band things changed dramatically for her. At first, I think that I really focused a lot on numbers because they were there to validate what I was seeing (meaning there was something wrong with her head shape and the numbers validated that). After a while the overall look of her head took over what the numbers had to say to the point where when i now look at her, seeing how round her head is, numbers don't come to mind. She just looks normal to me and to anybody else who doesn't know her story...

Hang in there. Maysa was in her helmet/bands for almost 11 months and we made it...
