Roxanne,

The staff at the Ocean Springs Hospital were wonderful. They treated

me with respect and understanding and patience. Not once did I feel

ashamed at having " fat surgery " . They told me how brave I was for

having it. Even when I cried because I couldn't wash or wipe myself

off (I felt humiliated)by myself they were so compassionate to me. I

wasn't the only patient in there having it done. There were 2 other

women there having it done- the day before and after me. They have

people there ALL the time going through it so they understand.

I came from Illinois so we had a 10 hour drive there and my mom flew

me home. I was lucky and I got approval my 1st time around. The staff

at Life Shape (although they just changed their name) is so great!

Dianna, his right hand man ,is always on the ball and Anne will

answer as many questions as she can for you. They are all very

helpful.

Hi Roxanne =)

I had my surgery with Dr. Warden of the LifeShape group, so I

stayed in the same hospital you'd be in with Dr. Booth. The staff

there is very nice.. no one treats you like a lazy so-and-so, they

will bend over backwards to help you out of bed the first few times,

the gowns are huge, so you never feel self-conscious for having to

wear a too-small gown.. The day unit manager, Angie, is wonderful.. I

can't say enough good things about her! I only had a complaint about

2 nurses- one on night shift who didn't give me my scheduled toredol

because I was asleep (ensuring that I woke up in severe pain), but

after the bitching I did, I don't think it'll happen again; the second

nurse was the one who discharged me.. she removed my drain even after

I told her to call and verify that it should be pulled when it was

still draining so much, but she just pulled it (and my drain hole

" peed " on me for another 10 days- I cupped a diaper around it to stay

dry). Then as she took me downstairs, she told this story about a

lady who, once released, ran out and scarfed a whole hamburger & ended

up in intensive care... like I'm that foolish. Plus she refused to

give me a dose of lortab elixor just before letting me go.. which

would have made my trip home much easier, but anyway..

Overall, 4 days, a dozen nurses, aides, & support staff, & I only

disliked 2.. Its a good place, don't worry, OK?

Hope this helps-

Hugs,

Liane
