Guest guest
This is the ONLY list I'm getting greif from... My surgeon is . My pre-op appointments were the 18th and 19th, which is why I'm posting now. My surgery has been scheduled since mid-August, when my second denial was overturned. The reason why I am posting is because I want to know if there is anyone else out there with this... It sounds like you are forgetting the full name of this list: Duodenal Switch obesity surgery SUPPORT > In a message dated 10/19/01 10:51:39 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > duodenalswitch@y... writes: > > << Lee Anne > > surgery is MONDAY > >> > Lee Ann - who is your surgeon? Guest guest
Lee Ann, I don't think anybody intended to give you grief. Certainly I didn't have that purpose. If your are happy with and the procedure she proposes then we certainly support your choice to go with it. I am concerned though about 's claims that it is safer than the DS, but this is not meant to give you grief. If you know all the facts and want to go with her then more power to you. And belive me, I know about insurance battles, as I am one of the most outspoken people on this list regarding insurance issues. I can understand that you don't want to start the whole process from square one. I was not aware in first responding to your post that your surgery was only in two days. I guess I mised that part of your post. My surgery is next Friday, so I can understand the feelings that you are going through. Ultimitely you should go with your gut. If you are comfortable and trust this surgeon then by all means go forth. Hull > This is the ONLY list I'm getting greif from... > My surgeon is . Guest guest
I am really sorry you feel you are not being supported here. I have been reading your posts and the responses. I really do think the folks replying are giving you their best thoughts on the issue of having the surgery you wanted changed by the doc to something else. If you want to give in and have it Dr. P's way, fine-- but there are too many intelligent thoughtful people here who feel the need to look at all the options to let this go unquestioned. It is your stomach, it is your life. This is a major surgery, lap or open, and a major life decision. It is permanent. I am having my surgery Wednesday 10/24 with Dr. Anthone. If I am told on Tuesday that he is going to change the procedure, I will not have the surgery. I am not comfortable with having any other WLS than the gastroplasty along the greater curvature leaving the pylorus and duodenum intact with the distal common channel. I know what I have read, and what others have cited to you, and the research shows this is the best of the surgeries. My mind is made up. If yours is, then I hope your surgery goes well and gives you the results you hope for. No one is bashing you. They may be bashing your surgeon. We understand that you are tired of fighting. I am sorry you are feeling bad, and I am sorry you are having a difficult time, but I think you are projecting your feelings onto the group, and not seeing the support that is here. No, it isn't all warm, fuzzy and unconditional-- but it is still support.
