Hi everyone,

I was wondering what you do for Halloween in place of trick or treating.

This will be our first year not doing this and would appreciate any tips.

Also, what about Christmas? We will be going to family gatherings where

they will see their cousins eating things they should not have. Are any of

you able to make an exception a couple of times a year with no reaction?

Thanks

Much of the fun of trick-or-treating is dressing up, so I don't see this

holiday as a problem for us. I'll keep acceptable candies and treats to

trade for those he can't have.

Christmas will be a little harder for me, mainly because of traditional

foods that I can't duplicate. We'll just have to substitute with acceptable

foods, but it won't be the same. I will be making GFCF pies, cookies and

cakes and other foods so my kids won't feel left out. It's sometimes

difficult to get people to give me a list of foods they'll be serving, for

some unknown reason, so that I can substitute, but I'll just have to work

at it. I think I'll buy several of those divided containers with lids and

fix these with their main course and another one with their desserts.
