Hi,

Last weekend n had some diarrhea, nothing else, just couldn'd

tolerate his feeds. By Tuesday he wasn't looking too good. My

glucometer wasn't working. Took him in, his blood sugars were 25!

Admitted him, had him on an IV D5. Jodi, your words were echoing in

my head how we have to take it very slowly to bring his system back

to normal. We learned our lesson this week!

I think they took the IV out too soon, but he was doing well on 1/4

strength formula, that is, until the damn nurse set up his overnight

feeds, he's g-tube fed, and I didn't realize until 4:30 a.m. that it

was not 1/4 strength, it was much more, which was why he had

diarrhea more than every hour during the night! I was sooooo

pissed!!! so, we were back to square one and had him just on IV for

24 hours, which was yesterday.

Right now he's just started 1/4 strength again very slowly and

hopfully if he handles it, we'll be home tommorow, day 6!

Send us good wishes please!

jennifer, I'm so glad you're getting this book together to have this

all in writing!

Cindy,

I'm so sorry to hear about n. But I'm glad that you have been

able to take my experience with Max and use what I learned in your

case. And I hope, hope, hope that you two can go home tomorrow.

Just take it slowly. Gosh - I wish that nurses and residents would

listen to US instead of trying to " trick " us.

Cindy,

It's strange. I was thinking of you off and on all day today. I kept

thinking I really need to make an effort to get Willie and n together.

Then I

checked email and read n had been in the hospital. I'm glad to be

reading at the same time that he is doing better! I hope you all get through it

okay. I can completely relate to what Jodi Z said about crying afterward. I

always get home and lose it,. Sometimes I don't wait until I get home but

usually I cry once everything is okay. Call me when you can. I'm sending love

and

best wishes. Maybe we'll come down to the Bay over spring break? Jack,6, has

been really resentful of Willie lately, too.

Take care.

KAthy (Jack, 6, and Willie, 4, rSS, periactin, zantac, 25 lbs, 34 in)
