Guest guest
I remember it being mentioned too. I think it was just that the company makes lots of different products, so there is a chance for cross contamination of their foods. Is Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour legal? I think I remember someone mentioning it in a post recently but can't remember if it was positive or negative. Thanks! Guest guest
The other issue with Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour is cross-contamination. They process a lot of different product in their plant. At one time I was told that the same equipment is used for everything. Each time they shift to a different product they throw the first batch or two away because of cross contamination. If you're sensitive to gluten, I wouldn't try it! To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wed, May 5, 2010 9:47:58 PMSubject: Re: Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour? I haven't heard really good things about Bob's Red Mill Flour. Mostly, it's from Elana's Pantry and other almond flour cook sites that have said Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour is too "grainy" to use -- more of an almond meal than a real almond flour. Suggested brands are Lucy's Kitchen Shop, Digestive Wellness and Honeyville Farms.
Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your responses. :-) I will probably try Lucy's Kitchen for almond flour, or try making my own in my food processor. Guest guest
I haven't used Bob's Red Mill almond flour, but back in the days when I thought I could eat whole grains, I got some Bob's varieties a few times. I always felt they were not very good quality, stale even, and I got them from a big coop with lots of turnover. I'm just not sure I'd use any of these, even without the cross-contamination issue, which IS there.
Guest guest
I've used it with no reaction, but it is very grainy compared to other sources. I get mine from digestivewellness.com which is the same stuff lucy's kitchen sells. MUCH finer and better quality for cakes and muffins. I used the courser stuff in PB cookies when I made them and I kind of liked the grainy texture in there.Hope this helps.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 8 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 12 pills a day Prednisone 40mg entocort With vit E mixed inBack to intro/stage 1 for now.To: BTVC-SCD From: tamrakat@...Date: Fri, 7 May 2010 01:31:18 +0000Subject: Re: Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour?
