Dinah,Ghee is just the oil. If you go into shock if you get milk protein, then I would consider not using it. But if it isn't a TRUE allergy and just a sensitivity, you should be just fine. I have a friend whose son is allergic to milk, but can eat regular butter just fine. Ghee is butter heated and 'cooked' until the milk solids start to clump together, but not burnt. It is then strained and what is left is just the oil -- no milk solids. Most commercial Ghee is about 99% pure. It is easy to make yourself as well.Hope that is what you are looking for.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, May 22, 2010 4:33:37 PMSubject: Dinah to All

If one has a milk protein allergy is it permissible to have Ghee? I thought it was, but not according to some sources.

Thank you...

Dinah
