Guest guest
Dawn: Thank God, I'm not the only one who had to dump the results in the garbage. My son was addicted to the Nutri-Grain breakfast bars, so I was thrilled to see the recipe in Miss Robsen's. Mine were a disaster -- extremely gooey -- even though I cooked them longer than the recipe called for. The didn't look or taste anything remotely like breakfast bars. My son wouldn't even venture a taste, and I don't blame him. I tasted it and while it wasn't awful, it was gooey and rich. The entire thing went in the trash. On the other hand, I just ordered some GFCF " fig " breakfast bars from a company in California -- I don't have the name handy right now. According to the sales person, they are the idential shape and style as the Nutri-grain bars. My son used to like Fig Newtons (before we went GFCF), so I thought I'd give them a try. I'll let you know how they taste and whether he likes them. I urged them to make strawberry and blueberry and she told me she'd pass the request on. Guest guest
I would love to get the address/e-mail whatever for the fig bars you're ordering from California. My sons also loved breakfast bars and I've always wondered why some company didn't make a version that was GFCF. I would also love a GFCF type of goldfish cracker, oreos, animal crackers, graham cracker, etc., but haven't found one yet. I've found decent substitutes, but not quite the same thing.
