Congrats! It's odd that we should feel so lucky to have received vaccine we all need. But I know it is a good feeling.

I got lucky!!!!I had a appt. with my therapist this afternoon - who just happens to be located in the same building as my primary care physician. So, while I was at the health care center, I asked if they had the H1N1 shots yet, and the receptionist sent me down to the nurses station to check it out. I had to explain to them that I was in the high risk group because I was on the lung transplant list and immuno-supressed. They took my name and birthdate and said they would have to check with my physician and that I could check back with them when I got out of my therapy appt. So, I went to the waiting area for my appt. and when my therapist came to get take me to his office, we were intercepted by the nurse who had my shot!!!! thanks for the info

my family doc did not register to give the vaccine

i am wondering if Penn will have it

i see the transplant doc early november, i plan on asking him about it

in the meantime, my cousin's 2 year old grandson got the vaccine last week, a couple of days later his pregnant daughter got sick, had 103, they took her to Lankenau, she tested positive and was sent home with tamiflu

the grandson goes to the same nursery school that my grandson goes to and my daughter and cousin's daughter were together one day last week, so i am very concerned about Jill

,What made me so mad was last weekend they had all these clinics and they advertised kids, pregnant women and serious underlying conditions only. Even had that on the DPH website. But yet when I tried 2 places, they were only giving kids and pregnant women. Then I hear they only used 17000 of 50000 dosages, so are us sickos gonna get those? Nope doing school clinics on Monday. I understand the kids are hit hard, but don't say I can have one then change the rules.Dyane Phoenix ipf 02> > > > >> > > > >> > > > >>From: Beth mbmurtha (AT) yahoo (DOT) com>> > > > >>Subject: Re: No H1N1 for you! Bruce... I do hope we will have learned lessons to be applied to the future.

I now have a bottle of hand sanitizer on a little table right by the door and I'm asking everyone to use it before they come clear into the house. Rich and I use it too. A bit over the top? Maybe I feel better and I do think I will continue this as a habit.

I am not quite sure why you came back Here feeling the way you do about this great country. Please be advised that I DO "care" very much. With all its faults, I am, and always be proud to be an American and I care very much about this country which is why I stay very informed.

As Mery Beth says, you will get your shot. I too wish I had my shot. I will be traveling to Europe Nov. 14th.....I will be in an airplane for 8 hrs, then sharing a ship with 3,000 other people so I hope I can get it before then. , I sincerely hope you can get one soon as well. Please, enjoy each day as much as you can, we have so much to be thankful for. I will enjoy Europe but, it dosen't matter, where I am..... I enjoy each minute I have "right here" as well. I gave up waiting for a "better time" and decided that right now, right here, is the "better time" no matter where I am or what I am doing or what is happening around me. My experience was the oppisite of yours, when I was in other countries for four years, I became more aware of how good we have it here.

Thanks, I felt my time in Europe was the best experience I will have in this lifetime. When My wife died with cancer I tried make sure each day had some joy in it for her. I am part of the United States and I am also very critical of the path we have been on for some time. I can not understand our need to be at continous war or why we can not run the Federal government without borrowing from China. I do not see why we can not offer some form of preventitive medical and dental care to every American. However, that is not your problem.

I do not find much joy these days; however, I am determined to figure out a way to remain above ground and I work hard to do so.

Today's Holland is suffering from the long recession in Michigan. We have good medical facilities in this area and that was a plus for my for ill wife for many years.

I do not mean to intervene in your conversation but the CDC

guidelines re H1N1 vaccine do not stipulate that people over age 65 will never

receive the vaccine. The guidelines do put us at the end of the line

because the data shows that very few people in our age group contract this

particular strain of flu. They don’t understand why but for some

reason we have almost complete immunity.

From the guidelines:

“………

the advisory committee approved a backup plan in case supplies are more

limited. In such a case, the priority groups would be pregnant women, health

care and emergency services workers with direct patient contact, household

contacts of children younger than 6 months, children age 6 months to 4 years

and children younger than 19 with chronic medical conditions -- a total of 42

million people.

The panel also recommended

that, once sufficient supplies exist to meet the needs of all targeted groups,

the vaccine should be offered to healthy adults ages 25 to 64. Once those needs

are met, vaccinations would be recommended for people older than 65.

The targeted groups differ

starkly from the recommendations for seasonal flu vaccine campaigns, which

include people 65 and older in the highest-risk group.

The difference is based

largely on data showing vastly higher infection rates among younger people; the

rate of laboratory-confirmed cases in Americans 65 and older is just 0.06 per

100,000, compared with 2.6 per 100,000 for the group with the highest infection

rates, children 5 to 11.

·

MayoClinic.com: Swine flu

Studies have found that

many older Americans carry at least some antibody protection against the new

virus, probably because it is similar to flu viruses that circulated widely in

the 1920s through the early 1950s.”

I hope this helps.

Europe but, it dosen't matter, where I am..... I enjoy each minute

I have " right here " as well. I gave up waiting for a

" better time " and decided that right now, right here, is

the " better time " no matter where I am or what I am doing or

what is happening around me. My experience was the oppisite of yours,

when I was in other countries for four years, I became more aware of how good

we have it here.

My wife was borne in the

town you live in, and I lived there for a while. Its a great town.

: I am very happy to

have nearly everyone get a shot before I do. My anger came from the

understanding that I would never be eligible. That is still my understanding.

As to what end: I

lived outside of the United States for 18 years. I found the United States to

one big island an a very ignorant island.

To what end: We all need to

seek truth. Our media and our government mislead us far too often. When

it comes to any government-- money is about politics and politics is about

money. The break down in the delivery of the swine flu virus is nothing

new. This is something we have come to expect. I still think we

should care.
