Guest guest
Hi Gwen, This does sound like die off. Hang in there. Eat easy to digest foods, get lots of rest and liquids like you are doing. Epsom salt baths help. This will pass. PJ > > I'm day 8 SCD today. I can't believe how much better my body already feels. And this group is most helpful. I've been reading like crazy. > > From the ribs down, I feel almost like a new person :-) ... but wow, I'm so foggy and exhausted. I can't concentrate or retain a thing. I came home from work today to rest. (Thank you, understanding boss.) > > I expected these symptoms. Yesterday, I felt pretty good, but today, i woke up exhausted. Anyway, I'm drinking lots of water and taking it easy overall, even while at work. Is there anything else I can do to ease the symptoms? I've had tinitus for 4 years and yesterday, for the first time, my ears were not ringing. Today they are screaming at me again, almost as loud as my body is screaming at me for sugar and carbs. I just couldn't take the fatigue and fog today and get a day of work done. > > Crazy bizarre nightmares, too. Did anyone else have that in the first days? I realize this sounds dramatic, but I really, this is infinitely better than before SCD. I'm so hopeful and feel that this is right for me, and I can tolerate this for a while. Keeping in mind that everyone is different, how long do you think the exhaustion and particularly, the fog, will last? I have finals coming up soon and need to be able to think. > > Thanks! Guest guest
Eileen, I told my husband that I felt like I was drunk this morning. I hope I'm better tomorrow because I have to entertain a bunch of co-workers from out of town. Thanks, Gwen, Alpine, TX > > > > > > I'm day 8 SCD today. Guest guest
PJ, I only have a shower here, but I'm thinking about packing a bag and heading to my daughter's to take an epsom salt bath. I've used salts before for other things. I'm willing to try anything. Thanks for your suggestion. Gwen, Alpine TX > > > > I'm day 8 SCD today. I can't believe how much better my body already feels. Guest guest
Try also activated charcoal. Which you can buy at a Health food store or Whole Foods. And eat lots of small meals during the day to deal with the cravings. If you are tolerating banana and the cheesecake, have some, to get some carbs in. Plus they make you feel better. Guest guest
I had crazy dreams in the first few days of starting the diet. The dreams were mostly centered on sugar and starch cravings. For example, I have wild dreams/cravings about eating candies I don't even like (Now & Laters, Almond Joys, etc;), or eating starches I can't stand (like fixing bowls of rice -- I hate rice.) It was really strange...and all within the first couple of days of going cold turkey off of starches and sugars. Two days ago, I had a dream about eating veggie burgers (full of starches, etc; and which I really don't care for.) It's really weird. > > I'm day 8 SCD today. Guest guest
I've had a much better day today with the die-off symptoms and I appreciate everyone's help. I did the epsom salts lotion last night and drank tons of water today. I ate some plain garlic. Thanks to all of your for your responses. I hope to try some clove tea soon.I'm tired but it's manageable and I actually held semi-intelligent conversations at work today. Several people mentioned candida. How does one find out of candida is an issue? Is the diagnosis strictly symptom driven? I don't have yeast infections, but I have frequent bladder/ut infections and I have itchy skin, congestion, etc. I did a saliva test (the jar of water thingie) and my spit definitely had legs. (Ewww!) I'm doing well on meat and broth, eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, steamed veggies (legal, of course), frozen cherries, blueberries, and strawberries (small amounts of berries), and yogurt. I'm one of those " lucky " ones who carries around extra weight. Seriously, I put off starting SCD because I was scared of gaining weight. Finally the pain got to be too much. I lost 15 pounds in the digestive turmoil, and I've been stable for months. Now I'd like to lose 15 more. However, " If I have a candida problem, do I have to give up fruit? " she asked in a super-high-pitched whine. You guys are amazing. I could have never made through this past week without this group. Gwen > > > > I'm day 8 SCD today.
