Hi Pat and Dayna,

Personally we hadn't really been securing the tube before we trained

so it wasn't that big a deal. Also, we have been using bolus

feeds during the day rather than the pump which also makes it easier.

I think one trick is to make sure that they wear the pump rather

than drag it around. If wearing it, we always made sure that there

was only enough " line " to get from the stomach to the pump. I see

two options, one is to run the line under the clothes up the back so

it isn't in the way when training (but when they move to the regular

potty that might get in the way) or keep the line easily accessable

so you can take the pump off and put in on the floor while using the

potty.

Hopefully someone else will respond with better ideas.

has popped his buttin by accident, and has done it once on

purpose. I don't think he will ever do that again as it really hurt.

Pat, I agree with you, if inflated properly and right size, they

shouldn't be able to do it on purpose.

I have a different potty question...What do you do when you child

desperately wants to wear underwear at night (like his sister) but

is on the pump overnight and cannot? gets very upset

sometimes when he is wearing a pullup to bed and Becca is wearing

underwear.

Judith,

I was hoping you would respond! Alyssa has just recently started having

bolus's during the day, which we love! I am more concerned about at night??

The pull-ups don't have any tabs, which is what we tape to. (it's where it

sticks).

As for what to do about wanting to wear underwear. . .I have no idea. Does

he still frequently wet overnight/? I know Alyssa still does although it is

lessening markedly with time. I hope someone can help!

Judith,

Have you tried letting put on regular underwear over the pull-

up? That may solve the dilemma.

The other alternative, and this takes a lot of patience on your

part, is to let him wear regular underwear on Friday and Saturday

nights one weekend and see what happens. If he wakes up wet, then

you can tell him that is why you want him to wear pull-ups. I know

it is a mess to clean up, oh, I remember those days, but he may need

to be in on that decision making process.

Believe it or not, he will reach the point where he does not have to

wear those pull-ups at night. Max eventually got through it. I

guess their bladders get used to the increased liquids? I'm so glad

I don't have to deal with that part anymore!

Hi Dayna,

I just (after two weeks) got them to unblock this site from my

office. Anyway, we don't tape 's line down at night. When he

was in a crib, we had the IV pole at the foot of his crib and just

ran the line through the slats and that was it. Now that he is in a

toddler bed, we have the pole at the head of the bed and he is just

fine that way. When he first got the gtube we used to tape also,

but after a while we realized he was just find without us taping it

down.

is sometimes somewhat dry in the morning but sometimes he was

so wet in the pullup that we actually started using diaper doublers

at night (they are sort of like feminine napkins that you can put

inside the pullup or diaper if they are soaking through.
