sounds like adrenals :( if I don't dilute my pureed carrots like crazy, I get adrenal symptoms fast (note to Marilyn: after you told me to dilute fruit juices more, I decided to try it with carrots. Now I can eat them without them causing perceptible symptoms in ulcer or mental fogginess, and I can't eat much else so I'm relying heavily on them. I eat 3 steamed zucchinis a day, thinking of increasing it but my body has been adjusting to them. Thanks)

Best,

Hi all,

I am working with my doctor and have been on SCD for about 2 months. One of the problems I have been having has been that whenever I eat anything sweet--from cooked carrots to highly diluted 100% pure pear juice, I feel very heavy fatigue. I feel ravenous all the time and have lost about 15 lbs. in the two months (to about 160, I am almost 6' tall) despite eating a ton of meat and vegetables. I have been trying to get the fruit on board with the diluted fruit juice etc. for regularity and to help balance out my diet, but I just cannot get over this fatigue thing. If I don't eat fruit I do not feel the fatigue.

To complicate matters, I started taking diflucan three days ago, and since then the fatigue has been much, much worse and constant -- scary; I'm planning to call my doctor on Monday.

Does anybody out there have any insight or experience they can share? Things I am wondering about are perhaps a very extreme and persistent candida overgrowth, and/or adrenal fatigue.

Thanks,

Can't difulcan 3x per day cause a lot of die-off?  If it is and you live thru it <g>, you may feel a lot better.

Probably should call the doctor and maybe get your blood checked.  Hope you feel better too.

,It sounds like you do have a yeast issue. Good that you are addressing it, and the fruit (like apples, bananas, strawberries) will encourage yeast as you have discovered. I think the fatigue is from the yeast by-products of their metabolism of the sugars in the sweet veggies and fruit. The die-off from the yeast will also cause similar symptoms. You are feeling this so much because your liver maybe having a difficult time handling all the toxins. Take an epsom salt bath (2 cups in a very warm bath up to your navel) and soak for about 10-20 minutes, don't rinse. This will provide needed magnesium, among other things, to help detox your body. Taken in the evening, it is a great relaxer for a good night's rest. I would do one daily until the

symptoms improve and then adjust as you feel is necessary. See www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/health_benefits.htmIt might be adrenal fatigue, but since you are noticing a pattern with the fruit/sweet veggies (and now constant with the diflucan) I would suspect yeast before the adrenal fatigue. one thought is, are you getting enough healthy fats? animal fat, broth, coconut

oil, olive oil, avocado... if your tummy can handle it at the moment of course

Have

you been testing your blood sugar as well, using a blood glucose meter? I

have insulin resistance, and fruits trigger a number of symptoms unless I limit

the amounts and types of fruit, and am careful about when I eat them and with

what other foods. One of the things that occurs when my body is trying to

deal with high sugar foods is lethargy (fatigue). Excessive fatigue is

also a typical immune response. I tend to use a blood glucose meter

frequently when I’m adding a “new” food, and used it often

during my 2nd year on SCD when I was trying to fine-tune my food

choices after a year on candida-elimination SCD when I wasn’t eating much

fruit. Took me a while to get the balance of foods right in order to

avoid blood sugar extremes.

Be

aware that Diflucan is a powerful antifungal, so will undoubtedly cause much more

fatigue from the die-off and stress on the body. If you are taking

Diflucan you may be dealing with candida, I assume, so you should also be

careful with fruits, among other trigger foods. Fatigue is a common

symptom associated with high levels of candida.

At

2 months on SCD you are still going through a lot of de-toxing and just

beginning to kill off the more persistent stronger bacteria and other

microorganisms. This will definitely cause problems for your immune system,

not to mention your digestion.

I

wouldn’t use fruit as a carb source right now, for putting on weight.

Instead I’d try to increase the fats and proteins and carbs from

vegetables. If you eat as much of the low and medium carb veggies as your

digestion will tolerate, plus more fats, you might do better in terms of energy

levels, and reduce your candida levels. I know it is difficult as your

digestion may not be handling too many vegetables just now. But you might

find some improvement by cutting back on the candida trigger foods and not

using a strong antifungal like Diflucan. And increasing your probiotics,

either with yogurt or a legal Acidophilus supplement.

Just

some ideas. It takes us several months to figure out what foods work best

for us.

I'd think this dosage would cause a lot of die-off. My doc put me on

100mg once a day. It's been pretty tolerable.

Can't difulcan 3x per day cause a lot of die-off? If it is and you

live

thru it <g>, you may feel a lot better.

Thanks everyone who responded to my post. It is nice to not be alone with

this--I can only see my very supportive doctor so often!

I am on the diflucan 100mg once a day (3x a day was a misread of my original

post), and the drastic fatigue has improved a bit. I think I'm going to stay on

it a bit longer to see if it can help.

I have been eating plenty of fats--coconut oil, olive oil, all kinds of meat and

fish (I am sick of sardines!), and can actually tolerate a fair amount of

veggies-- zucchini, asparagus, chard, kale, spinach, cucumber & celery (have

been juicing these two with some raw garlic), onions.

I have been reading through old and current posts and think that I have been

eating too much protein and not enough veggies. I get so hungry and want

something filling and so tend to eat a lot of meat. Like someone else commented

in another post, I can stuff myself with meat and feel more hungry afterwards! I

think I will just up the quantities of good veggies and try to hold steady or

decrease meat slowly.

A big frustration has been my inability to add things like nuts, eggs, and

yogurt--all of which trigger eczema reactions for me. Basically I have only

veggies and meat.

I take Klaire labs probiotics, S. boulardii, fish oil, Freeda vit. B and multis,

and also olive leaf extract (I am rotating through various natural anti-candida

herbs).

Anyway, not really looking for anything more, just wanted to answer a couple

questions that people asked and mostly just write this for my own sanity.

Thanks for the support.
