Guest guest
Thanks for all your responses on going to the dentist. Debby, your list was great! The technician started off by saying she needed to " count " Abby's teeth. Unfortunately, Abby didn't even want to open her mouth and we spent quite awhile before she would even let her count. We finally got Abby's mouth open so the technician could count and then she wanted to do x-rays. We tried everything, but Abby was very nervous and the technician couldn't do a thing to convince her to put that cardboard in her mouth. (Later, I heard the dentist tell the technician that he didn't think the cardboard would fit in her mouth and I sure didn't think it was going to either!) The dentist came in and convinced her to let him look around in her mouth, even using the mirror. He said if he had seen anything of concern he would push for the x-rays, but her teeth looked fine, other than the permanent one in the wrong place and the spacing issues. He said she might be able to work the loose teeth (there are two) out on her own, but she definitely needed to be working the new one in place with her tongue and jaw. He referred us to an orthodontist to start planning the spacing issues. She has lost one tooth and the one coming in to replace it is taking up two spaces already. I guess if the loose teeth haven't come out by the time we go to the ortho he will do something about it. All in all, I was glad to be able to put this off to another day. It sounds like we're going to have a long haul and we'll deal with it as we go. Thanks again for your support! Sherri
