Guest guest
Ask the dentist if he will use nitrous oxide. My 5 year old responded well to the laughing gas and did just fine when she had to have a shot at the dentist
Guest guest
Don't say too much to her about it. The dentists and their assistants are usually VERY good about how they handle stuff like this. Our dentist told the kids that he was putting 'magic bubbles' in their mouths so that they wouldn't feel it. Notice no use of the words 'shot' or 'pain'. They believed the magic bubbles story until they were a lot older than you would think! The only thing I used to tell my kids is that the best thing to do at the dentist is close your eyes because everything looks kind of scary, but it really isn't. Baby teeth are not usually very anchored and they usually come out pretty easily. The only other suggestion I have is that you not let your own anxiety show. A lot of us grown-ups have problems about the dentist. Try not to share them. Conny, great-aunt to > > I've got a dental appointment tomorrow for my 6 year old daughter, > Abby. Guest guest
hey sherri!! my 6 1/2yr nicholas freaks at the dentist (gagging thing) so they gave him a " funny nose " last time it smells like bubble gum and they give him just a little " laughing " gas through it, just enough to rlax him so they can give him the shot and get the work done. by the time they start doing the actual dental work it has worn off but he didnt even know so he was relaxed and happy as can be. good luck!! jodie c > > I've got a dental appointment tomorrow for my 6 year old daughter, > Abby.
