Milestone Reached!

Today, one day before the second anniversary of my diagnosis of IPF, I finally

reached the milestone that I have been working toward. At the official weigh-in

for my HealthFast class (the physician supervised, liquid diet I am on), I

weighed in at 279.0 lbs - 1 lb. BELOW the upper threshhold for my height, set by

the Transplant Clinic at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Bottom

line...if I am still below that threshhold at my next appt., on Oct. 14th, I

will be activated on the transplant list!!

Not only that, but, I got to add real food back to my diet!!! lol After 4

weeks of liquid shakes only, I had lost 19 pounds. For the past week, I have

been allowed one cup of cooked green or wax beans for supper, and I lost 5.9

lbs. Tonight, I got to have some chicken breast and a serving of asparagus.

For the next week, I can add chicken breast, turkey breast, fish or shellfish

for a protein. I have also been able to add some additional veggies. The plan

is to keep losing weight if at all possible, so I can get down to a more

reasonable weight - the more weight I can lose before transplant, the more it

will help the recovery. But again...the bottom line is that after all this

time, I can now see the finish line! Exciting...but scary at the same time...

A huge thank you to all of my Facebook friends from here on the support

group...you have been a great source of support and inspiration as I have worked

thru this weight loss thing!!!!!!
