I NEW IT. I have been suspicous of Ren for a while because of her

sudden interest in the lap band. This underscores what I have been

trying to say which is go with the surgeons that are dedicated to the

DS. Go to the ones that went to the special session of the ASBS and

have more than 45 surgeries under their belts. Don't mess with a

newbie or a surgeon that is ambivalant. I am not saying that a

surgeon shouldn't offer alternatives, but his or her main commitment

should be to his patient rather than chassing the newest hot topic

(be it the AGB or remote surgery or the inter-gastric balloon).

You can find the list of the ASBS special session attendes in " Chris

Hull's folder " . Here are the surgones who attended an have at least

45 DS surgeries under their belt:

I am not sure if this has been brought up and I just missed it, but does

anyone know exactly why Dr. Ren is no longer doing the DS? I would be

interested to know her reasoning on this.

YIKES!!!!! I have an appointment with Dr. Ren on Halloween...please

tell me this is just a rumor. Is Dr. Ren really not doing this

surgery any more? If this is true, I don't know why I am

surprised...I have had the worst 6 weeks of my life...so this would

definately be the icing on my cake. If anyone knows if this is true

or not, please let me know.

I think your best bet would be to email her right away

and find out so you can make plans. When I went in

Sept. for my appointment She told me about the BPD/DS

and then told me about the BPD which she said has been

being done in Italy for over 20 years without any

problems and she said that she was considering only

doing the BPD in the near future. She answers her

email usually within a day or two.

Didn't Dr. Ren have some pylorus issues? The Scopinaro procedure

surely avoids them; so what if it bypasses the pylorus and renders it

inoperable--arghhh!

Hi Marcia- Sorry I didn't reply to your post. My computer decided

to get testy with me and crashed on Oct. 6th so this is my first time

online since...new hard drive and all...yikes...someone please remind

me that backing up my information is a good idea...lord, I lost

everything...grrrr.

Anyway, I emailed at Dr. Ren's office and she hadn't heard

anything about Dr. Ren not performing BPD/DS, but said she would get

back to me. I still haven't heard anything. When you saw her on the

15th did she mention anything? I'll be seeing her on Wednesday

(Halloween) so I guess I can wait and see.
