Guest guest
We recently started giving my son some new supplements compounded by the pharmacy at the Pffeiffer Clinic in Naperville. My son has begun having very loose stools since we started him on these. In addition to the usual megavitamin does, there's also DMG in it and a probiotic in it, as well as digestive enzymes. They had recommended we also supplement with a cal/mag powder. Do any of these have loose stools as a side effect? Janet

Wouldn't it be better to try one supplement at a time to see if it benefits your child or if it causes side effects/adverse reaction. Perhaps you should ask the pharmacy these same questions. These do cause difficulty in some children. However, even if they do not cause difficulty, many times they cause loose stools for the first few weeks because they are cleaning out all the accumulated " gunk " in the intestinal tract. I agree with the other reply here, you should ask to start each one of these things individually, not compounded together, to see which one/s are negatively affecting your child.
