Guest guest
I went for my 1st post op check up yesterday (10/30)at Mt. Sinai. By their scale, I have lost 21 lbs, by mine, 23. I like my scale better. I felt pretty well until 4 days ago, when the " stapler port " the one in my right upper quadrant, started to puff up and get hard. Not a good sign. Being a brilliant diagnostician, I decided that I had either a seroma, a hernia or an alien. Personally, I was rooting for the alien. I told as much to Dr. Pomp's PA, Gee, who said " Well, in any event, Dr. P will want to open that up. " When Dr. P arrived, he did just that. Turned out I had an abscess, and he drained about 50cc of old blood and---I'll spare you guys the technical description, but I'm sure the rest of you RNs out there can guess what came rolling out of my poor stapler port! YUCK!! So now I get to take the antibiotic of the moment--Cipro--for the next week. I feel much better today, and am back to eating and drinking on a regular basis. No diarrhea as yet, but have had a few " oil slicks " , which are virtually identical to the ones I had when I took Xencial. down 23 lbs. in 4 weeks. Use plenty of water when you take them. It takes a day or so before it starts to work, but it does not give you diarrhea, and it sops up the oil. Long before you joined the list, I was the " oli king " around here, and I found FiberCons to be the saving grace. Also, maxipads to prevent unexpected leaks from spoiling your day. --Steve -- Steve Goldstein, age 61 Lap BPD/DS on May 2, 2001 Dr. Elariny, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Virginia Starting (05/02/01) BMI = 51 BMI on 10/25 = 39 (-75 lb.) -- No longer M.O. Guest guest
Oh , I laughed so hard at your alien I started crying. I am currently strapped into my continuous passive motion machine, or the rack, for my new knee....and the family came running thinking i was dying. I am so sorry you are hurting, but damn your explanation was the funniest thing I have read today, well, in conjunction with Steve's anonymous poopie odor! Thanks so much, Theresa > I went for my 1st post op check up yesterday (10/30)at Mt. Sinai. By > their scale, I have lost 21 lbs, by mine, 23.
