Guest guest
Bruce sounds good to me! But, I am on a hi carb diet with no fish or dairy....or meat. But I eat volumes nd volumes of carbs! So far it hasn't done anything but beneficial to my blood sugar. Lots and lots if carbs,,,just pack them in. And I eat as much as I want whenever I want instead of that horrid diet that said you have to count carbs and can only have certain portion sizes. The ADA diet was just horrid and I hated it. Much prefer being a Vegan! LOL Joyce Rudy AZ birds Re: OT: Salad Dressings Cauliflower soup review JoyceAs you talk of adding items to the recipe, it brings this to my mind.First, I don't add salt to anything so count me out there. However, onething I've often experimented with is various salad dressings. Amazinghow almost all of them can be used on fish or chicken or even pork. Ican imagine many of them on vegetables as well. I've used many low carbitalians or caesar's and even a french catalina. The other night I bakedsome flounder filets and I just grabbed two different dressings I hadhandy and coated them. Could have added bread crumps if I'd wished (ofcourse I would only use 100% Whole Wheat if I did). So I had pieces offlounder with two very distinctive tastes, both quite good. Low carbsalad dressings are quite a good way to dress up most anything a bit andgive it a unique taste.>> If you follow the recipe as is it comes out a bland tasteless mess butif you add salt to your liking and a package of bacon bits and the lemonit is quite nice. I think it would be wonderful if a quarter cup ofshredded Cheddar cheese was added to it too but alas, I don' t eatcheese! This soup would go good with a nice slice of bread or crackersand a good salad..my favorite is cumcumber, garbonza beanl. Guest guest
Bruce yes it is difficult to buy prepared foods with no salt -- that's why i don't add salt to prepared foods for the slow cooker -- if you eat beef -- i put in a brisket with carrots, sometimes, a can of diced tomatoes -- low salt -- sometimes college inn chicken soup -- low salt, low fat -- sometimes other veggies, sometimes cooking wine -- whatever strikes my fancy at the time --- garlic powder, pepper, paprika, parsley flakes then there is enough for several days or freezer containers i've done the same thing with chicken -- but i really like it for beef also made ribs in it -- we stopped using prepackaged meals because of the salt -- exceptions -- i still buy canned soup, but look for the least amount of sodium Pink Joyce R (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: OT: Salad Dressings Cauliflower soup reviewTo: Breathe-Support Date: Saturday, October 17, 2009, 4:12 PM PinkYes, actually I did. It's become a huge problem in all food sections tofind things not just loaded with sodium. I was just looking yesterday atsome really nice gourmet meals a local grocer sells, already prepared.Just like all the frozen foods, packed with salt. As a society we'vebecome so conditioned to equating salt to better taste. I even ordersteak unseasoned when I eat out. If I order fries, I get themunseasoned. Not too long ago I was looking for something interesting forthe crock pot but 90% of the "slow cooker meals" you find prepackagedare loaded with salt. And, low fat and even some low carb are worsesometimes as they just put more sodium in to make up for whatever tastethey feel was left out.> >> > If you follow the recipe as is it comes out a bland tasteless messbut> if you add salt to your liking and a package of bacon bits and thelemon> it is quite nice.
