I'm a little confused on the enzymes. 's nutritionist says she doesn't

believe enzymes should be used for infractions & that they don't work that

way. She recommended Alka Seltzer Gold (which I won't use - he wouldn't drink

it anyway) & charcoal.

This confuses me a bit because it seems many people use enzymes for

infractions on the list & can account that it works. True?

What do people use & if enzymes, what kind, how do you use them? I wouldn't

use them on a regular basis, but was thinking of having them in in case...

Also, if you use charcoal, how do you get that into them?

Thanks again (from a confused newbie)

Some people are reporting good success with Alka Seltzer Gold and/or

charcoal. I don't use those. I use enzymes from this url.

http://www.houstonni.com/

They have allowed me to add back casein products with no reactions.

They have allowed many other parents who choose to try them, to add

back gluten with no reactions. My kids appear to be celiac so they

are still gf.

My kids react to basically all foods. There is no way they can live

on just the foods they do tolerate. These enzymes help them digest

most other of these reactive foods. My autistic son is now basically

NT altho not yet age appropriate, and I am chelating him to help with

his remaining issues. Here is his story, if you are interested.

I am very happy with these enzymes. But you can also look at the

enzyme offerings of Kirkman Labs

http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/

You can use the enzymes for infractions, or to try to re-introduce

gluten/casein, whichever you would prefer. I do use enzymes for

gluten infractions for my kids, and so long as I only give a gluten

infraction less than once per month, they tolerate the occasional

infraction with enzymes without any difficulties at all.

Having them " in case " for infractions is a good idea. If your child

has other food intolerance issues, you can give them with every meal

to catch those other issues, if you choose. It depends on your child

and your philosophy, whatever you believe is in the best interest of

your child. I give enzymes to my kids with every meal, because they

react to basically all foods without them.

For the enzymes, I open the capsules and mix it with honey, then

spread it onto a rice cracker. All my kids eat enzymes this way, and

they have no problems with it.

I do not use any enzymes at all. My son has been GFCF (and I believe

100% for almost 18 months now) and rather than use enzymes I just totally

avoid any possibility of a mishap. I send ALL snacks and food to school

and each aide and teacher is well informed of his diet. I travel with

food and have a GFCF safe kitchen. LJ is doing fantastic and I can't

take the chance of cross contamination.
