Jo Ann: This may be bad advice; however, I would not post my application for social security disability on the Internet. I might print out the form and fill it out and mail it or deliver it to a local SS office.

I helped a friend do this. I feel her success in securing SSDI (I think) depended upon her supporting documentation. In her case I was with her when another friend overstated her case on her application. I did not like this procedure; however, it did work. I also saw the comments from two levels of Doctors. I think these were the winners. She was drawing permanent disability from JCI and these folks might have had some unseen influence. I do know this. However, I have heard of cases where the former employer went to bat for the disabled employee.

My advice on this is slow down and do everything you can do to get it right the first time.

My friend put off applying for months. I tried to use the Internet for her. I did not trust this approach. So I took her to my local SS office.

These folks made an appointment for a face to face interview at her own SS office. This gave her time to contact her Doctors and secure their submissions and to fill out the form with the help of a friend. She did need to appeal or take back anything she stated on the Internet. Burns

I made my application online for SS disability. It's not "posted online" in the sense of it being displayed on a board somewhere. It's conveyed directly and securely to the SSA. I completed the application online and dropped off all my supporting documentation at the office. I had one telephone interview, filled out a couple of additional forms and had one appointment with their doctor and my disability was approved in about 4 months.

Remember it'snot always easy or desirable for someone who is ill to go and sit in a Social Security office. While doing this online is not for everyone many people find the process fairly easy and straitforward.
