Guest guest
Sher, Pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. It happens because the heart has to work harder, for whatever reason to get blood through the lungs. As the pressure increases over time the heart has to work harder and is able to pump even less blood through the lungs. It is very important that those of us with pf be tested regularly for PH and I'm fairly certain your next step will be a right heart catheterization to get an actual pressure reading. Please don't panic. An echo just gives a ballpark estimate, the right heart cath will tell the tale. PH is more treatable now than it was even a very few years ago. There are meds that can help keep it under control. Take it one step at a time and see what happens. You are in my prayers. I'm glad Rich continues to recover well! Echo shows mild PH. Phooey! Now that added dx worries me...some one tell me please, in easy terms to understand what PH is. I understand this stuff is nothing to fool with. I hesitate to go to the internet but I know I will. I'll wait first to hear about PH because I know many of you here also have that dx. I may have to do a right heart cath now.... Did the sleep study last night so will wait for those results. I feel like I want to just climb in my big 4 poster bed and put up a sign saying ,"Don't touch me!" I don't feel like I'm doing a very good job to help Rich in his recovery. I do what I can. MamaSher; 71, IPF 3-2006, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
MB... thanks for your reply. I knew you would write what is helpful. Yeah, I panicked a little bit. I think mainly it's simply because I don't one ONE MORE DAMNED THING to deal with, or take more meds for. I'll be ok and I will cope with whatever comes along. I just needed to vent and be mad and scared for awhile. Thank God for our sweet board. Thank God for you MB. MamaSher; 71, IPF 3-2006, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
Mama Sher,Sorry your day was less than ideal shall we say. No Sjogrens is good, mild PH yeah they keep saying that about me too along with the heart murmur no one seems too excited about. My Cardiologist after my cath said the good news was I would live a long time with my heart....the bad news was I would live a long time with my heart and my lungs! LOL Basically I think that means my lungs will kill me long before the heart will. Like Bruce has said echos can be misleading and maybe yours will show lower pressure under the cath like his did. Sometimes after these days of one test after another I feel like you and just want to go to bed and pull the covers in after me. I'm still doing a slow burn over the nurse who made me feel guilty about wanting a flu shot. But tomorrow is Friday, I am babysitting my wonderful granddaughter Sat night and with any luck I will get a home made tamale when I do so off to bed I go after I go kill some zombies on the computer. Feel betterDyane phoenix ipf 02>> Well gang, most of the testing is finished...labs show NO Sjogren's. Echo shows mild PH. Phooey!
