Hi Patti, my name is Dot...as for the cough, the Dr. prescribed to me Tylenol 3 w/codeine & that has helped me quite a bit. We forsure have to be very cautious around anyone that is ill. You may even want to get some masks to help.I've taken the pneumonia & flu shot-which has helped me alot. As for the cold weather..yes i have to keep bundled up or like for these past weeks i've been cooped up. i'm recovering from pneumonia..AS for exercise-i try to walk as long as i can, but very very hard for me right now. You body tells you...I mean when i feel well, i can go all day-with o2 of course, but when i feel bad..omg..i can't do anything. Vitamins..i take 1000mg of B12 & that really helps me with energy-but i also drink the fruit juice Monavie...a jigger a day for a year & it has done wonders for my energy level. Those are great questions..keep

asking. Hope that helped some..

By the way, welcome to the group!

Being new to this IPF diagnosis I am wondering how many of you handle certain conditions:

---do you avoid the cold weather?

---do you avoid sick people (hard for me as I have 3 little grandsons and they always have something)?

---do you take cough medication every day to help with the cough and does it help?

---does exercise seem to help?

---anyone have any luck with herbs, tea or vitamins?

To Dot too.... "the fruit juice...Monavie??? What is it and where do you get it? A Jigger a day for more energy sounds good to me. Does your Dr. approve?

Thanks

Dot, Sher and Dyane,

......great tips....I am not taking any vitamins as of now but I do feel more tired, so I shall give the B12 a try.......haven't heard about Monavie juice. My sister takes a small jigger of Jonie juice every day and she swears by it, not for any illness just for overall heath.

I have had the pneumonia and the flu shot but not the H1N1shot. I shall check into the breathing rehab......I didn't even know there was such a program.

I think you are all so right.......a positive attitude will be my best defense!!
