Good Bacteria for GI tract

Hi Guys,

Erythromycin definitely works for DGE in most cases. I have used it

on very small babies (some preemies) to help with their DGE. The

downside of course (as Jody mentionned) is any antibiotic will kill

off the good bacteria in the GI tract. I have found great success

with a product called " Primodophilus for children " which can be

gotten from a health food store or via mothernature.com. Give a tsp

mixed in 10cc of fluid if being given via a syringe via a GT or add

it to a bottle or cup of any fluid. It mixes well and is tasteless.

It contains bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. If Jillie is on

antibiotics, I give her 2 tsp a day - one in the am and one in the

pm. If she is well I give her a tsp every day. She has had a fundo

and has a GT but did not have the pyloroplasty. I believe it helps

with the gastrointestinal health and helps her digest better.

Hope you are all staying warm out there. I'm wondering if I will

ever see grass again it's been covered with the snow so long!

(Mom to Ethan who is 6 tommorow and weighs 60 pounds and is

51 inches (obviously not RSS) and Jillie who is 2.75 years old (RSS)

and weighs 24 pounds 10oz and is 34.75 inches tall. She is on GH,

periactin, zantac, vitamins, singulair and primodophilus as well as

nebulizers. She has had a GT since 3 months of age and a fundo at

7.5 months of age. Fed via GT 18 hrs a day. Oxygen dependant at

night.)
