Guest guest
Hi Ken, Some time in this past year, being 8, he decided he wanted to do his own shots. He did them for about 2 weeks and then he got over it. We do it for him before bed most of the time. Personally I feel it's enough knowing he can do it himself should he need to. Guest guest
Hi Deb, Glad to hear from you again. How are you? I hope all is well. How is ? I hope he is doing well. Thanks for the info about thee shots. is almost 8 and has been assking a little about his shots. So maybe in the relatively near future, he too, may want to try and inject himself. For the time being, I will continue to give him his shot. It gives me an excusse to check in on him just before I go to bed. Anyway, thanks for the info. Guest guest
Ken, I am with you 100%!!!! Dr. H told that at age 9 (she just turned 9) she can begin be responsible enough for giving herself her shots. We have taught her how, but I do not want her having the responsibility of drawing up exactly 32 units of GH each night out of the vial! Her diabetic friend absolutely can do it by herself. But we have decided that for now, likes us to give it to her when she is asleep, and my perspective is that she has enough going on in her life, that who gives her the shot is a minor point. However, she does want to go to sleepaway camp for a week this summer. She knows that she has to learn by then (for the 3-day camp, her Brownie troop leader learned how to give her the shot). We've told she has to switch to soluable Prevacid tablets by then, and learn how to do the shots.... so we have 6 months. Ken, stick with what is working for you and !!! I do think that by age 8 or 9, if he is responsible and trustworthy, you can begin to teach him how (especially with a pen that just takes " clicks. Guest guest
Hi Ken this is , s Mom , has been giving himself his shot since we started it back about almost a year ago, he is 5 1/2 now and he loves to do it(especially if their are people over he likes to show off that he is a big boy ) , it makes him more independant , they say to let them do it so that if they were ever to wake up and see you doing it it might really freak them out and then lose trust in you and not want to go to sleep at night , the child life specialist told me this cause we were going to do it while he was a sleep. I am glad we didn't start that way , he likes to skip it but he is only allowed one day to skip and it is usually on Saturday but if he really doesn't want to do it that time we just switch up days! Well I hope this info helps you out let me know! - In RSS- Support , " kmerrith " <kkm@i...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > I have a question. Guest guest
Ken, I'm glad you asked this question. Jon is now 10 and we still do his shots. The problem we have is the location. The only place with enough fat is his behind and he's not flexible enough to reach that far. He also wants to go to camp this summer so we have been trying to figure it out!
