Guest guest
Thank you Hillary, I'm going to try the boga burger and some of the other suggestions or at least put it on the table for a week as our new food or the week. Marcy Hillary nsen wrote: I've always been a huge fan of dairy, no matter what form it takes. I also really like soy and another bean curd product called tempeh. I do also eat chicken, fish , turkey, and sometimes buffalo (although it's pricy, so I don't get it as much as I would like). I've always liked black beans as well. Oh, and peanut butter and eggs (I eat a lot of egg whites). I eat meat more readily now then I did as a kid, but it's still sometimes a struggle to make myself eat it. For a long time after I started eating meat (right before I turned eight), I would only eat really thinly sliced deli meat. The texture of that is markedly different from an entire chicken breast or steak. The pieces are also smaller and easier to chew. Per Marcy's question, I don't remember anyone in my life doing anything to traumatize me in the texture department. I'm still not sure *why* I developed those aversions. I do remember one incident where my well meaning grandparents forced me to eat a hotdog, and to this day, the smell of hotdogs makes me nauseous. Also per Marcy's question, my parents had a lot of success with getting me to eat when they served me soy (Boca burgers are still one of my favorite foods). It's softer and decidely less " stringy " (for lack of a better description) than most meat. I'm trying to think of another food to compare the texture to, but I can't come up with anything at the moment. I also intensly dislike most condiments (butter and barbecue sauce are pretty much the only ones I'll even consider eating), so my parents had a lot more success with getting me to eat when they served things plain and sauce free. I think that's a fairly comprehensive run down of where I get my protein. Feel free to ask anything else . ~Hillary 22, RSS ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Hillary, Thanks for the input, and the ideas!! I'm willing to try just about anything at this point! LOL I was so thrilled when at that pizza, but as I posted later, he's refused it every single time we've offered it again! Talk about frustrating! LOL used to like to " dip " things, but lately refuses any condiments we offer, so I have no idea what's up with that. He likes bread (only white!) and will occasionally eat it with a thin smear of peanut butter, or a piece of cheese, inside. He won't touch cheese on a regular basis, and we've tried every form, from Cheez-Whiz, to sliced, to grated. He's been more open to breaded items (fish sticks, chicken fingers) lately, maybe because it hides the meat??? Who knows! LOL Once again, thanks for the ideas!! It's gives me some " new " things to try!! Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 3 yrs old, 23.5# (10.7kg), 32.8 " (83.3cm), G-Tube)
