Guest guest
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. Hope you get back on track soon. Iove old bay on seafood. I googled homemade old bay and found a suitable replacement for it. You could try that next time. About 2 months into the diet my sis had a BBQ and she made some burger patties just for me. I got so ill. We were hashing over what the culprit couldve been. She knew I could only have salt and pepper. Well I said that and she frowned real fast and said omg I put worstershire sauce in it. She felt horrible. It's the small things that set us back. She always makes sure my stuff is made properly now. Misty
Guest guest
Thank's to everyone who responded! :-) I'm convinced it was the Old Bay Seasoning and will avoid it from now on. Today I ate 2 eggs over easy and that brought the pain back for a few hours. Then I had well-steamed zucchini pureed with organic vegetable stock and organic cultured butter, and that seems to be sitting well with me. Would it be okay to add a little coconut oil to the zucchini to add some extra calories? At this point since the eggs brought my pain level up, I'm hesitant to try the intro diet chicken soup. Would it help if I pureed the chicken? I have oral thrush and have a bad reaction to fruit and honey, and I tried making jello with stevia but it was awful! Guest guest
I should also add that besides not being able to eat honey and fruit because of oral thrush, I'm also lactose intolerant so I can't eat the yogurt. Guest guest
Hmmm, I haven't tried making the yogurt because I assumed I wouldn't be able to tolerate it since I can't tolerate milk, cheese or store bought yogurt, so I guess I should try it and see. Guest guest
Hi Sky, Yes, that was me who did the LDN trial! I remember seeing your name and talking to you in other groups. Taking LDN helped me recover a lot (about 75%), and for almost 3 months it stopped the fibromyalgia pain. I felt great, but then it's effectiveness for the pain started to wear off last December so a few weeks ago I dropped down to 3.0 mg from my previous 4.5 to see if buildup was the problem. Since I have a lot of food intolerance I was happy to find this group. My health problems started after having a very bad intestinal infection (c. diff) in 2007. For a long time I've felt if I could just get my intestines to heal maybe the rest of my body will follow. I'm hoping LDN + SCD will be synergistic. :-) I'm going to buy the yogurt starter today and give it a try. Gosh I have missed eating yogurt the last few years so I hope I can tolerate it. When they say to go slow with introducing it, do they mean like a teaspoon of yogurt a day? Nice talking with you again! If you are good to see you over here. My dad was diagnosed with lactose intolerance by a biopsy and he has no problem with the yogurt. But if he goes near real milk. He certainly pays the price. > > Sky and her Dad > >
Guest guest
Here is everything you ever wanted to know about SCD yogurt: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/yoghurt/yoghurt.htm And: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/yoghurt/introducing_yoghurt_to_you Introducing yoghurt to your diet. Many find huge improvement to their condition when they start taking the yoghurt, others can have problems at first. After the starter diet has been completed the yoghurt can be tried by introducing it very slowly. Try a teaspoon the first day and watch for any reaction, if all is well, try two the second day, gradually increase it each day. If you have a reaction to it then there may not have been enough healing yet and it may be best to leave it for now and try again later. Or you could try goats 24 hr SCD™ yoghurt which has wonderful Carol From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of Tamra I'm going to buy the yogurt starter today and give it a try. Guest guest
Carol, thank you for the links. I went to the GI health website looking for the non-dairy starter " ProGurt " suggested on both Elaine's site and pecanbread.com, however they now have a non-dairy started called GI ProStart which has L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus and L. Casei. The first two check out on Elane's website, but is L. Casei okay? I'm planning on making goat yogurt since I have oral thrush and assume it would be safer.
