Call for Nominations

Best Practices in Pharmaceutical Marketing Representative Policies

Request for Information

The National Center for Farmworker Health is soliciting your input in a search for best practices regarding Pharma Policy within Community and Migrant Health Centers (CMHCs). We seek nominations (an organization can self nominate) of C/MHCs that currently have policies and procedures in place that spell out how the organization handles transactions with pharmaceutical sales representatives and the use of pharmaceutical samples in their setting.

Respondents are requested to complete the attached nomination form and if applicable, submit a copy of your policies and procedures on this topic, no later than September 1st, 2008. All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by an expert national advisory panel of multi disciplinary prescribers from Community and Migrant Health Centers.

Up to three of the submissions will be selected and recognized as Best Practice Exemplars, with publication of the highlights of these policies in the Migrant Health Newsline.

The three top submissions will each win $1,000 towards the purchase of your choice of multi prescriber subscriptions to either: the Prescriber’s Letter, the Medical Letter, or Epocrates for your health center.

All other nominees submitting sample policies will receive meritorious recognition, and a copy of the report of findings on the presence of such policies within Community and Migrant Health Centers.

The first 10 respondents to this inquiry will receive a complimentary copy of an NCFH Commemorative Artwork Poster of your choice (http://www.ncfh.org/00_ns_rc_commart.php)

whether you have policy examples to submit or not. We would like to hear from you even if you do not have pharma policies in place.

This Call for Best Practices is being conducted as part of a project designed to provide objective information to prescribers on pharmaceutical detailing, and is funded by a Special Committee of the US Attorneys General for Prescriber and Consumer Education.

Your participation in this process will assist us significantly in assessing the presence of pro-active policies that assure objectivity in prescribing and recommending policy considerations for those health centers that do not currently have such policies in place.

If you need clarification on this request, please do not hesitate to contact me or my asistant Estrada-Boren at the following email addresses: ryder@... and estrada-boren@....
