Guest guest
When I had the vbg which is a purely restrictive surgery, I could not eat meats and bread and stuff like that. I could eat salad and popcorn. Wow! LOL And I could eat cake and ice cream. For some reason sugary foods, especially ice cream went down well and didn't make me vomit (actually, I hurled!). So, yes, because I could not eat the food I was supposed to, I ate what stayed down. . .and absorbed every calorie from it. It was actually a blessing for me when the ring loosened up because I could finally eat those foods (the good ones) that gave me nutrition. It wasn't the VBG that actually got my weight down, as my DH and I were having a really bad patch and I just stopped eating for about 4 months and lost a lot of weight. When things got better, the weight stayed off, but then the ring looened up and I started eating larger quantities of food, quit smoking, and gained most of it back. The BPD/DS has been a wonder gift I got for myself. Down 92 lbs, almost 1 year out, and I feel great. Guess in about 6 months I'll look into getting my hernia fixed.
