Guest guest
Hi - The first week can be tough on some, but in a lot of instances, the moms are pleasantly surprised by how easy their child adjusts. I hope the same happens for you! I would suggest trying to keep your concern/distress out of your facial expression and pretend to be thrilled that your son is getting his new " hat. " Babies can read their mom's facial expressions and if he senses your stress, he's going to stress. So clap and cheer and smile when they put it on the first time, try to make him see it as something fun. Also, try to master putting it on and taking it off quickly, without too much fuss, and then once it's one, don't fuss with it. Just pretend like it's not there and hopefully your son will " forget " about it too. Lining up the ear hole with his one ear (opposite the velcro opening) helped me get it on straight the first time and it may help if he's sitting up in his high chair or exersaucer. And just dress him very lightly, he's going to sweat but as long as he's not overdressed, he'll be fine and the sweating should subside in a week to 10 days. Good luck! Please keep us posted and ask any questions you may have. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for the advice. I absolutely know can read my face - he is too good at that! So, I will definitely be putting on my happy face when the " hat " goes on. Thanks for reminding me though, because I've gotten caught up in my worries and might have let my emotions get the better of me at the wrong time. As for putting it on and off - another worry - that's great advice too. I greatly appreciate your help. Guest guest
How did it go?? I hope all went well. My son got his helmet on Sept 12. We are already seeing some improvements!! The discouraging part is he is have a hard time sleeping in it. My STTN baby is now up every 2 hours wimpering- its sad... but I have to remember it will be a distant memory soon. Those first nights of sleeping in the helmet were rough on us all- so if you need encouragement post here. Good luck and I hope your baby adjusts easily!!
