Good morning ladies,

As I already told you, our insurance (Cigna) denied our claim. I was wondering

if you can give me any tips or documentation that would help with appealing

this. Also, what kind of success have you had with appealing? Did it work? Any

answers would be great! Thank you so much.

Ask your doctor if she can send a letter of medical necessity to Cigna. They may also need your child's head measurements to determine the severity of the plagiocephaly.

Also, I found this website and there's a lot of information in it as far as appeals and templates for letters to appeal.

I hope this helps. I'm not sure how effective any of this is because our insurance covered the helmet. I guess we are among the very lucky few.

One more important detail I forgot to mention is that we waited on approval from our insurance before we made the appointment to get our daughter's scan. I think it makes it harder for the insurance companies to deny a claim if they have already approved the procedure.
