Guest guest
How great that you found something that works for her! Here's a tip for those of you with babies that can't afford a new chair. Olivia was about 11 lbs at 10 months and was like a newborn in development, couldn't roll or sit but was holding her head up ok. Since she was always in a carseat, swing or stroller the tendons on the back of her legs atrophied and were extremely shortened. She would scream like a demon when we put her in a sitting position with her legs at a proper 90 degree angle from her hips as the tendons pulled so bad. We couldn't afford a new highchair so our PT helped us with a very simple solution. We took 2 hardcover books and taped them together (you have to set babies on the books first to get the right height), then covered them with 2 tea towels for easy changing. We placed the books on the highchair and fit them snug to the back. The seat of the highchair is now a perfect foot rest. This worked wonders for Olivia and we used it for well over a year. The proper foot rest is also a huge aid to posture. I'm not very good at explaining visual things so if you can't get a picture of this in your head let me know and I'll answer any questions!
