patch and gum - quitting smoking

Well, that site that I was referred to to help quit smoking has questions and

answers and lo and behold I found one that related to my situation. I

thought this was the case, that since I had smoked so heavily (1 1/2 - 2 pks

a day for a long time) that I needed a little more Umph than the patch alone

and I thought I was doing a " no no " but knew I had to do it in using the gum

and patch, but here is a post from a quit-smoking counsellor regarding just

that, so I am off the hook about worrying about this!

btw, on another post, one of the counsellors said you have to chew and then

" park " the gum between your cheek and gum to let the nicotine absorb or you

will get most of it in your stomach! Carole

Heres the post -

" Hi,

Actually, the answer to that's going to depend a lot on how much you were

smoking when you quit. If you were a heavy (more than a pack a day) smoker,

you may need to augment the patch with gum/inhaler/etc during rough spots.

Send more info about your most recent daily nicotine levels.

Congratulations on your quit.
