Guest guest
i, I firmly believe first of all that we all have a different point at which our weight and age intersect to produce the painful symptoms of this disease---morbid obesity. It is also a very progresive disease. When I look at the weight loss from my surgery (102 pounds), I think not only in what I lost, but also in what I did not/will not gain (another 50 to 100 pounds). My weight was going no where but up. I had hit that intersecting point at about 36 years of age and 260 pounds (actually probably a couple of years earlier). I had high blood pressure and feet so sore that they really affected my activitiy level. My health (especially considering my activity level was getting lower) was going no where but downhill. In considering the type of surgery, I feel dieting is what got me to 267 pounds. If I could have been happy at a little bit chunky beginning in my teens, I don't think I would have gotten to 267. Dieting did terrible things to my head and my body. It made me think about dieting and food, what I should or shouldn't eat, what diet I should try, every single day of my life. The DS has totally lifted this. I feel the RNY is often just a forced diet, so it would not have lifted the weight/diet burden from me. The most important thing I have gotten from the Ds is the lifting of this terrible burden. I am not sure any other procedure would have achieved this. Just my perspective! Guest guest
Hey i, Pardon my french, but screw your family. They don't live in your body, they don't walk in your shoes, only you do. You DO deserve to feel good, you DO deserve to be happy, you deserve it all. Stop beating yourself up, be nice to you. Barbi > Also, I am getting a tremendous resistance from my family. They, of > course, have not or ever will be obese. I am the only one in this > generation, although my little sister is fast approaching obesity (she says > because of meds she is on). Anyway, since I have brought up this subject > in my family it has been a very painful time of comments like you just > aren't doing enough to lose weight, you don't do exercise you don't do this > you don't do that. > > I feel I am lucky just to get up in the morning and do anything with my > day.
