On Wednesday August 20th, 2008, AIDS Foundation Houston and Katine &

Nechman LLP will present a free seminar on the changing status of

HIV-related immigration laws.

The seminar is co-sponsored by the Latino HIV Task Force, the

Association for the Advancement of Mexican-Americans, Farmworker Justice

(a subsidiary of the National Council of La Raza), the Southeast Texas

Legal Clinic, and Bread of Life, Inc. It will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm

at the offices of Katine & Nechman L.L.P. located at 1111 North Loop

West, Suite 180. Space is limited and must be reserved in advance at

(713) 808-1000 or via e-mail at info@... <mailto:info@...>

or www.lawkn.com <http://www.lawkn.com/> .

Attorney Nechman, teaches HIV-law at South Texas College of Law and

the University of Houston Law Center. " Many non-citizens mistakenly

believe that the new law means that HIV is no longer an impediment to

traveling to the U.S. or becoming a permanent resident. The statutory

ban has been replaced with an administrative ban, and those affected

need to be aware of how this affects them. "
