additive in Cento tomatoes

I was perusing cans of Cento tomatoes the other day while picking up ingredients

for some soup I was making, and I noticed that one particular variety had

" calcium chloride " as an additive. I was not sure if this was OK or not, so I

opted out of buying it, but I was wondering if anyone knew if this was " legal "

or not. I couldn't find anything online, other than learning that calcium

chloride is a type of salt used as a thickening agent in foods. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Claire
