Salt Additives

I've been noticing that a lot of salt has stuff added...for example the salt

packets I have at my desk at work have sodium silicoaluminate (an anti-caking

agent), dextrose, and potassium iodide.

It occurs to me that these additives could be in any salt we use at restaurants

(or that restaurants might be cooking with it), and maybe it's in the food at

Whole Foods' hot bar too - I had been thinking the cooked squash and zucchini

were safe, but maybe not.

Maybe you already knew this, but I find it a little disheartening since I

thought restaurant food could be tailored. I guess you're supposed to get it

without salt and bring your own?

I'm still trying to figure out what foods don't give me a reaction (to even do

an SCD intro...I'm not a big meat fan, I think the carrots in the intro soup

elicited a reaction, still can't tell about squash and zucchini).

Yes, this is what I would do when you feel ready to eat out. You're

going to be asking for things SCD-plain anyhow, so why not specify no

salt and just include a little salt shaker along with your salad

dressing and whatever else you will be bringing along?
