Guest guest
Hi, . Thanks for the information. I forgot to preface my last question to all of you with a couple points: 1. I did search the archives, and although I got some very good information, I was having trouble with the search itself and the sorting, so I gave up after a while. 2. I know that I should talk to my nutritionist, but here's the problem: the only two WLS nutritionists in my area work for the local RNY doctor, and they told me to take one multi-vitamin a day and I'd be fine. Well, I think there's more to it than that, but I won't know for sure until the day before my surgery, when I meet with Gagner's nutritionist. I really want to be prepared ahead of time, not at the last minute. Also, I know how long it's taken my to gather the little bit of understanding that I have about all of this. I'll need the lead time to figure out what's right. All of you must have talked this subject into the ground, so thanks in advance for doing it again. Hope you don't mind a couple more questions: > After breakfast: 2 Citracal +D Is this the more absorbable kind of calcium? There's carbonate and another kind? Are these chalky chewables and are they better than monster pills? > Midday (preferably on an empty stomach): one Natalcare PIC Forte > (generic for Niferex PN Forte) How come you're not worried about absorbability with these tablets? What about vita4life or ADEKs? Are all ADEKs chewable, and is this what makes them more absorbable (and the fact that they are water- soluble)? Are chewables generally better than tablets or capsules? > So far, my bloodwork has been excellent with this regimen. However, Can bloodwork change very quickly? For instance, maybe your protein and calcium levels look OK because your body, while it can, is taking what it needs from your bones and muscles. One day, the bloodwork shows this suddenly. Can this happen? What about protein? Vita4life says that their (collagen-based?) predigested protein is better absorbed. So, you could be eating tons of protein everyday, but it's really not " getting through, " and then one day, BAM! So, can you tell that I'm a little freaked out by this whole vitamin thing? ;} Regards,
Guest guest
, I will try to answer just a few of these questions and leave the rest to others: Calcium Citrate is more absorbable then Calcium Carbonate, and Citracil is just one name brand for Calcium Citrate. ADEK's are not necessary for everyone, but some need them. Others do fine with multivitamins. Don't worry to much right now. During the first month you will need to take a chewable multi-vitamin, as you wont tolerate much else. You bloodwork will detect if you have entered a catabolic state where you are burning lean body mass. Blood tests look for the parathroid hormone to see if calcium is being leached from your bones. You bloodwork should not change too rapidly unless you get ill. Hull > Hi, . > > Thanks for the information. I forgot to preface my last question to > all of you with a couple points: > > 1.
