We have stayed at and recommend the following:

The Milford Plaza, in the theatre district, great location blocks from Times

Square and a cab ride of less than $10 depending on traffic, but most of the

rooms are very small as many are in NY, clean but older

The Salisbury, a quieter location, the rooms are great and roomy, clean but

older as well, about the same distance by cab

Metro Home/Sutton Place, these are former apartments and very spacious,

great for an extended stay, also a short cab ride

If we are just coming and going quickly we stay at the Salisbury, it has a

great rate and a continental breakfast that is very good for 3$. When we

stay a few days, we stay at Metro Home. I have a toddler and a baby and my

parents accompany us and we need the space.

I have not stayed at a hotel right by the hospital. Be sure to check on

whether the hotels have air conditioning since you will be there in the

summer!

Subject: NY hotels & transportation

We are going to see Dr. H on 6/24....What hotels do you recommend? I

know that the area Mt. Sinai is in is not the best and we are spending

5 days in NY (vacation too). I can find some good ones in Midtown and

I guess we can just get to the appointment via subway, but I was

wondering if there was anything nice closer to the hospital.

Thanks,

Sheryl (mommy to Dalia)

I love the Milford Plaza. The location is great and it's really safe

around there. Yes, the rooms are small, but you can't be in a better

spot. And there is a GREAT Toys R Us a couple of blocks away. There

is even a ferris wheel inside! And lots of toys are there to be

played with, not just looked at.

The Excelsior is also nice - right across from the Planetarium - but

it's not at Times Square where there is so much going on. My mom

stayed there just a few weeks ago. She said the rooms were small, but

the people were very pleasant and she enjoyed the view. It's also

just down the street from Central Park.
