New to SCD; just gobbled down a pot roast

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd introduce myself since I'm new to the list.

I'm , a graduate student (done in June - whew!) I've had loose

stools/chronic D for 2.5 years and was diagnosed with lymphocytic (or

microscopic) colitis in March. I know it's not one of the typical problems most

people on SCD have, but the folks over at the microscopic colitis forums are

mostly just trying gluten free diets. Based on my research and BTVC, the

gluten-free thing just doesn't make sense to me. I even tried it for a month or

so and felt so bloated on rice; corn on the cob sent me into a flare. So I nixed

that and am trying SCD. (I've tried it before strictly for a month, but that was

prior to my colonoscopy/diagnosis, so I stopped after getting very

weak/exhausted. But I DID notice that at the end of the month, my face was clear

and I didn't need deodorant.)

I just started SCD a week ago (5/2). I was feeling very foggy and bloated all

the time, then two nights ago all the sudden the bloating went away and my mind

cleared up. Is this typical in the beginning?

I still don't have that bloated feeling, but now I'm just starving all the time.

(I'm 5'6 " and about 105 lbs. Normal for me is about 115-118 lbs.) Right now I'm

at pecanbread.com's Stage 1, but with less fruit (I found juice makes me really

gassy at the moment -- though it could be the juice I *thought* was 100% apple

is actually now. Will stick to Welch's grape juice when I do reintroduce it.)

How long is it okay to go without fruit? I did have a spotty banana yesterday

and it not only took away a headache, but tasted amazing. This coming from a

girl who used to hate bananas, haha! However, the one I ate today made my belly

grumbly.

My energy is still pretty low. When should it pick back up? Is the electrolyte

drink at http://www.scdrecipe.com/recipes/r_019_00452.php okay to drink at this

point? Any suggestions for ways to get more calories? I made cow's milk yogurt

cheese and had a couple teaspoons last night. I seemed okay with that... as far

as stomach grumbling and gas go. How long did it take for you all to get to

normal BMs?

Sorry for the long post -- and thanks for your help! Your experience and advice

is much appreciated!

Microscopic colitis 2.5 years (Diagnosed 3/10)

SCD 1 Week

Entocort 9 mg/day (Since 3/10)
