Antidepressent question for post-ops

I am pre-op and have been taking Effexor for about a year now. The whole

depression thing kicked in soon after my daughter was born (post-partum

depression that never went away.)

Anyways, I gained about 40 lbs. after starting this medication and my PCP

says it's due to the meds. If I have the DS, will I lose that weight even

though the meds contributed to a lot of weight gain recently??

I have read that people have been able to get off antidepressents

during/after WLS. Why is this?? Is it simply because they feel better since

they have lost weight or is there a physiological thing going on??

I can't imagine being able to get off these things - if miss a single day, I

turn into a mad woman!
