sure what to do...its a 7 hour drive and so many people are telling

me she isn't doing BPD/DS anymore...sigh...I emailed her and will

hopefully hear from her on Monday before I leave for New York. I was

planning on surgery in January or February and am hoping this hasn't

totally screwed up my plans.

: I would definately e-mail Dr. Ren asap and ask her about this. Her

patients have said that she WILL perform a DS IF the patient wants it.

Others have said that she leans more towards the BPD nowadays... but all this

is secondhand information and may/may not apply to your particular case! :)

I wouldn't just assume and cancel your appointment ---- I've heard that Dr.

Ren is really quick about responding to e-mails, so drop her a line and

specify that you definately want the DS and whether that is feasable? You

certainly wouldn't want to go for the consult and then hear the news that she

would not perform a DS or wanted to do a BPD. So, make sure beforehand! :)

I hope all goes well --- Get the info from the horse's mouth so to speak and

come armed with info (Marceau's report on a comparison of the BPD and DS,

which can be found on Duodenalswitch.com - if that site is still up?) with

hard facts in support of the DS.

all the best to you,

lap ds with gallbladder removal
