Guest guest
has always used a Kangaroo Pet feeding pump, and for the past 9 years only at night. He just switched to a Zevex Enteralite pump, so that he could be on continuous feedings during the day as well. The problem I am running into is that he is using the mini-backpack with a 500mL feeding bag. He needs 750mL during the day and another 750mL during the night. This means the bag has to be refilled in the middle of the feedings. can't do this himself during the day, as the bag is hard to close. In fact, I even have a hard time doing this. When I fill the bag to the top and try to close it, formula spurts out of the top & spills. This is somewhat of a nuisance. Then at night, I either have to stay up very late or wake up in the middle of the night to refill the bag, which is definitely a pain in the butt. I don't think my insurance will pay for both 500ml and 1200ml bags to avoid this problem. I was thinking about trying a 1200mL bag in the mini-backpack, but just filling it with 750 mL & rolling up the rest of the bag to get it out of the way. I am not sure if this will work though. Has anyone ever done this or run into a similar problem using this pump? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Kim C.
Guest guest
---Hi Kim, We switched from the Kangaroo to the Zevex enteralite pump a year ago. My daughter Mollie is three and has been tube fed since 9 months of age. I have always used the 1000ml bags. I fill them to 700-800ml. Squeeze the rest of the air out and have not had a problem other than sometimes being heavy for her. It seems that the bag weighs at least half of what she does. ANd it is a minipack as well. But, she is quite used to it now. She gets hooked up usually around 6 p.m. at night and runs to 8 oclock the next morning. We were able to cut back on our daytime feeds a bit. As far as the prefilled bags, I have not heard of them. I will be interested to see if anyone else posts as well. Good Luck. Guest guest
-Kim, The only other thing that I thought of, is when we fill that bag, there is also an ice pouch to keep the formula cold. I have yet to have a problem, but I leave that open, because I am sure there will be a day. Pat, thanks for the input as well. Mollie very rarely has opportunity to carry the bag around all that much. Actually it's usually me attached to her side. She runs between 45-50cc hour 30 cal neocate jr. It will be very interesting when she enters school. But that is looking ahead, and there is much that could change between now and then Debbie -- In RSS-Support , " Kacey171 " <capuano_k@p...> wrote: > > has always used a Kangaroo Pet feeding pump, and for the past 9 years only at > night.
