Guest guest
Thanks. I was referring to this: http://pecanbread.com/p/how/coprotocol.htm She is quoted in the constipation protocol lined out on pecanbread, she says to try one muffin a day along with a few stewed prunes as you are starting the diet, and eat legal pureed fruits and vegetables - and if this doesn't work to try prune juice with orange juice, and there are additional methods she recommends. I'm on Amitiza for constipation. I take it once a day with breakfast. Miralax, I'll probably try that soon. I've tried it in the past, and it does work, I just never could find the right balance - I was either going too often of not enough. I think I may have developed a yeast problem - since I started the diet, I've been having cravings and reactions to bananas and grape juice. So I stopped the grape juice, and am only having 1/2 or 1 banana a day, but still getting the reactions. But I'm worried I'm not eating enough fruits. It may also be mainly die-off since I just started 5 days ago. The reactions aren't so bad - mainly a crazy sugar rush and some nausea. I wonder if I shouldn't cut them out completely - all fruits, that is. Or if I should cut them out in case I'm developing a yeast problem. What do you think? I'm guessing increasing fruits along with the vegetables I'm eating (only carrots and squash so far) will help. Oh and I'm also eating avocados, which may be a little too much fiber but I need some calories, but the day I added those I started with the cramping, however it was also the 4th or 5th day without going to the bathroom. I guess I'll take the Miralax just to get some relief, and then go from there. > > Ellen > > > > I have lots of experience dealing with constipation, unfortunately. Guest guest
Hi Ellen, I have been dealing with constipation problems all my life. I started the SCdiet 2 years ago. Elaine’s constipation protocol did nothing for me. What has helped me is taking miralax on a regular basis and magnesium. I wouldn’t worry about candida right now as you are just starting the diet and have enough things to think about. I would however recommend cutting out bananas completely. Many people have C. problems with bananas. I think the best way to go is to have a food diary. If not, it will get too confusing. You will need to write down what you add and when and what the effects are. Hopefully, you are adding only one food at a time and only a little to start out with, waiting a couple of days in between, then increasing as you go. This way your body slowly adjusts. I would also recommend peeling, deseeding and cooking all your fruit and vegetables. It is easier on the gut, while it starts to heal. What I am doing right now for my C. problems is taking one glass of hot water in the evening with 1/8 tsp of celtic sea salt. I also take 1 glass of warm water with ¼ lemon first thing in the morning. I no longer have to take miralax as milk of magnesia before bed seems to do the trick. I also take extra magnesium during the day. I hope this helps a little. Don’t hesitate to ask questions if you need to. You will need to be patient with your body and your healing process. It didn’t take a few days to get sick and it won’t take only a few days to heal:o) Good luck! GERDS and chronic C. SCD 2 yrs Re:Re: Constipation Protocol Thanks. Guest guest
I do not really advise this--haven't read the entire thread but it's archived. Dried figs. I ate five of them one night and by the next day, I was *weak*. A box of raisins even. Just seems to work. Sometimes a salad with poppyseed dressing. Just skip all the protocols and go straight for the major laxative effect I guess. (THese are advanced--more to some than others I suppose). The electrolyte drink is a lot kinder and the recipe is on pecanbread.com. It may take two or three but to do it daily, it's probably ok. Honey isn't really needed--at least I don't think. I don't usually add it. Debbie houston cd scd originally 12.05--branching out and rolling back cd dx'd 3/02 ldn 3/10 Hi Ellen, I have been dealing with constipation problems all my life.
