Guest guest
Well, I guess I should have guessed. Called insurance today and they said they sent my Dr. a letter asking for detailed 5 year diet history, and medical history and medical history showing reference to gall bladder and all the other items Dr. Hess listed in original medical needs letter. I have had what I think are gall bladder " issues " but nothing bad and the Dr. whose care I was under at the time didn't bat an eyelash when I mentioned symptoms, so no records of that. I do have records of some of the other things. Thank God I did my diet history and I got all my medical records. Now, I just hope they aren't going to say that these are " pre-existing " items, since I am new with this insurance and didn't have any when laid off for 9 mos last year. However, when I called about this originally I was told pre-existing is anything I was treated for six months before I got the insurance and I was not treated for any of the things mentioned. They are referenced prior to that. Does anyone here have Medical Mutual? Did they make you do these things, too? Did they ask for medically supervised diet history? My booklet says only that I have to be twice the weight I should be, which I am sorry to say, I am, but then it adds something like within the guidelines or something - have to look up the actual wording. Now I am getting worried. Carole
Guest guest
I wouldn't worry just yet. Look at it this way.....The fact that they are asking for more info is actually a good sign. It meants that the insurance powers that be are actually considering your request for approval. I expected to go through all kinds of hoops when my insurance company came back asking for more info. I provided all that I could and my surgeon's office had to provide some info about them and their scope of surgeries that they perform. Once that was done, I waited a full week and called the insurance company. I got an approval right over the phone. I didn't realize how much I had worried about it until the approval came through. Then I sat at my desk at work and cried. I still didn't believe it until they sent the final paperwork to my doctor. So...don't let the worry take over. Your insurance company may just surprise you. If you meet all their criteria and provide all their requested information, it looks pretty positive to me! Good luck and keep us posted.
